Private Suite at Miami International Airport

The Private Suite (P/S) Terminal at Miami International Airport will occupy the former Pan American Airways regional headquarters, which was constructed in 1963. Known as the “Taj Mahal” of Miami both for its layout, which recalls that of the famous 17th Century mausoleum in India, and its sumptuous tropical Modern design, which resembles that of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi from 1959, the property is special to the area because it exemplifies the important role that Pan Am played in the growth of both aviation and the Miami community. The building was designated a Miami Dade Historical Site in 2014.

The architectural restoration and adaptive use of this landmark is being led by RJHA. The plan calls for meticulous restoration of the building’s architecture and design details which include the original Pan Am logos and gold panels and accents in the lobby and courtyard walls. Recognizing that the project is an excellent example of mid-century modern Miami architecture, RJHA will maintain the historic integrity by providing complete architectural and engineering services for the exterior and interior restoration. P/S plans to offer members plush executive lounges, private suites, a new modern bar, a pool, work spaces in addition to necessities for travel such as security checkpoints for TSA and private customs administration spaces.
