Miami Edison Middle School Auditorium
Miami, FL
Originally built as Miami Edison High School in 1928, the new Miami Edison Middle School was reopened in 1997. Three historic structures were completely restored and three new structures were added. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Miami Edison was transformed into a modern educational complex by sensitive historic restoration and design of an addition that is compatible with the original historic fabric. The well organized, state-of-the-art facility provides a full range of services for over 1450 Middle School students. RJHA’s work on Miami Edison included restoration of a beautiful 1450 seat Art Deco style auditorium building to its original appearance. Beyond extensive historic paint and plaster repair lies completely new theatrical systems including modern rigging, lighting and sound.
