The Lehman Theatre, dating from the early 1960s, has been one of the signature theaters of Miami Dade College. Located in the school’s North Campus inside the William D. Pawley Art Center, the theatre has not only staged numerous performances, but has also served as a lecture hall and classroom. With the renewed emphasis on providing not only the Miami Dade College students but also the community as a whole with a modern Performing Arts Center, the theater is receiving a full interior makeover that includes improved acoustics and state-of-the-art sound and projection systems. Outside the Main Hall, a new green room will be added and the current dressing rooms will undergo an all-encompassing renovation. A completely new entrance equipped with a Broadway style marquee will also become a main feature of the updated theatre. Additionally, the center will have a new Studio Theater with full theater rigging, lighting and retractable seating that allows the space to be easily reconfigured for lectures or other events.
